In 1966, Violeta Melashvili enrolled at Ilia Chavchavadze Institute of Foreign Languages, initially at the Faculty of French Language. Two years later, she transferred to the Faculty of English Language as a first-year student, where she studied for five years.
In 1973, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and was awarded the qualification of a teacher.
In 1983, she enrolled in a course in simultaneous interpretation.
In 1985, she completed the full course and was certified as a translator of scientific and technical literature.
Violeta Melashvili worked as a translator in the film studios “Kosmos” and later “Gazsphuli,” where she provided English-language dubbing for films.
Since 1974, she has continued working as a translator in this field.
From 1982 to 1983, she was assigned to Aden, Yemen, as a translator.
In 1986, she began working at the Georgian State Institute of Physical Culture, where she still works today — currently at the Georgian State University of Sport (formerly the Sports Academy).
In 2025, she worked at the Football Referees Academy under the Georgian Football Federation.
Violeta Melashvili holds a teacher’s qualification and has extensive professional experience in both teaching and in translation/dubbing of films. She holds international English language certificates, including ESOL TKT Modules 1, 2, 3, and 4.
She has translated several textbooks, including: Aquatic Sports, Competitive Swimming (Volumes 1, 2, and 3), and Fundamentals of Management.
