Evaluation system

Accumulation of credits and assessment system

  1. Accumulation of credits is possible only if the student completes the learning outcomes specified in the syllabus, which is determined by the positive assessment established in subparagraph “a” of Article 4.7 of the “Rules for Calculating Credits in Higher Education Programs” approved by Order #3 of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia in 2007.
  2. A student cannot be assessed solely on the basis of the final exam.
  3. Assessment distribution:
    • Midterm assessments – 40 points
    • Midterm exam – 20 points
    • Final exam – 40 points
  4. Professor’s right: The professor may redistribute the 60 points of the midterm assessments based on his/her own views and decide on the number of assessment components and the deadlines for coursework.
  5. The assessment system operates every semester.
  6. Maximum grade: The maximum grade for the results of the course is 100 points.
  7. Grading categories:
    • A – Excellent (91-100 points)
    • B – Very good (81-90 points)
    • C – Good (71-80 points)
    • D – Satisfactory (61-70 points)
    • E – Sufficient (51-60 points)
    • FX – Failed (41-50 points), entitled to an additional exam
    • F – Failed (40 points and less), subject to be retaken
  8. Additional exam: In case of receiving an FX grade, the student must take an additional exam, which will be scheduled within 5 days after the announcement of the final exam results.
  9. The additional exam grade is not added to the points received in the final grade and constitutes the final grade.
  10. Additional exam result: 0-50 points – final grade F (0 points).
  11. A student who scores at least 25 points in the midterms is allowed to take the final exam. By order of the Rector, a different threshold may be set, but not more than 60%.
